We’re pleased to be sponsoring the Rutland-based business club “The Biz Club” which has launched its annual Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for 2023.
This year, the awards have been renamed in honour of Geoffrey Pointon, who was the President of Rutland Biz Club. he was also a patron of the Traver’s Foundation, a regional charity that aims to help young people achieve their potential.
This year, the organisation has announced two separate categories; one for those over 25s and one for those under. Nominations for each award must be submitted by September 8th and all businesses need to have a physical base in Rutland, Market Harborough, Stamford or Melton Mowbray to be eligible as a local business.
All applications will be judged by some of the top business minds in the area, with a special focus on seeking the most innovative and inspiring entrepreneurs and leaders to select as finalists for the awards.
“We’re focusing on championing some of the most exciting and innovative entrepreneurs in the area,” says local business owner and Vice-Chair of the Biz Club, Mark Shaw, “We also know that some of these outstanding entrepreneurs may not be those with years of experience behind them, which is why we’re keen to shine a light on young entrepreneurs too.”
Businesses across the area with a united passion for supporting local businesses are sponsoring the event; confirmed sponsors so far are Warners, Arnold Wills Ltd, Quibble, ClockedIn, CownHouse and Uppingham First.
Anna Morrish, Managing Director and Founder of Quibble explains, “We’re heavily involved in supporting businesses across the county,” She goes on to say, “In the past, we’ve also worked with local Colleges to offer work experience to their business students to support their T-Level qualifications.”
“We’re keen to not only support established businesses but also those individuals who will go on to create fantastic businesses and organisations in the future.” Says Anna.
The awards for both Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year will be whittled down to two finalists in each category and presented to the winners at the Biz Club Luncheon.
“Even those that don’t end up going on to be nominated or winning an award will become part of a supportive community of like-minded business people and entrepreneurs that care about the local area, supporting small business and helping each other flourish.” Concludes Mark.
All applications can be submitted through the Biz Club website by the 8th of September.
