CSELLIS CASE STUDY

This project required us to update the site as the existing CMS was out of date, unsupported and incredibly limited.

Update Website & Provide PR Support

C S Ellis was founded in 1933 and is well-known in the area for having a wealth of experience in the transport and logistics industry.
They approached us as we’d been working with another business within their group. They were able to clearly see the value we offered and were keen to bring the transport business on board to experience the many benefits digital marketing could provide.

The Challenge

The brief was fairly open, but the goal was essentially to implement an SEO and content marketing strategy in order to reach a wider audience online and drive leads.

Very little had been done in terms of digital marketing in the past, and the existing website was experiencing a number of issues. Not only was the site on an outdated version of CMSMade Simple, it hadn’t been updated in a number of years, so it wasn’t mobile-friendly and was also unsupported, leaving the site open to security risks. Further to this, there was no HTTPS redirect in place, which essentially caused there to be two versions of the site.

In order to maximise upon the benefits digital marketing could provide, we needed to update the site and resolve the issues we identified as part of our initial website audit.

Our Approach

The website did have some authority, so we had a good foundation to build upon. However, before we embarked on implementing a digital marketing strategy we needed to first understand where they stood against their competition in order to then implement a plan that would achieve the results they expected.

To begin with we conducted a comprehensive website audit, competitor and search analysis, keyword research, content analysis and began the process of developing personas.

We worked with the original web developers to implement a range of “quick fixes” to support the site in the initial stage, along with working on changes that could be carried over to the new site. This included implementing HTTPS redirects, an updated metadata strategy and uploading fresh website content.

While we developed the site on WordPress based on the current design, we set to work on the content marketing strategy and PR strategy.

The Results

After six months, the results of the SEO and PR work spoke for themselves. We saw a 116% increase in traffic, with a 225% increase in organic visitors and a 178% increase in referral traffic.
